Jose spent three summers in the Dominican Summer League after being signed by the Astros. He begins his first season as a starter after spending the previous two in the bullpen. Jose spent some time on the DL in 2009 with a shoulder injury, but has returned to a relief role for pitching coach Don Alexander. Jose's personal hero is fellow Dominican Pedro Martinez.
