JetHawks continue perfect play in Adelanto, beating High Desert 7-4

(LANCASTER, CA) – It wasn’t pretty, but the JetHawks continued to take care of business when it counted most Thursday night in Adelanto. Despite committing a season high five errors and allowing High Desert to load the bases in the ninth inning, the JetHawks were able to turn a double-play to end the game and beat the Mavericks 7-4.

Injuries kept two JetHawks infielders out of the lineup. Ryan Khoury replaced Tony Granadillo at second while Zach Daeges made his first start of the year at third base, filling in for the injured Scott White. Four of the errors came in the final three innings and allowed the Mavericks to consistently threaten the JetHawks lead, but Lancaster pitching managed to strand 13 Mavericks runners on base.

Khoury gave the JetHawks the lead in the third inning. Following a Mickey Hall walk and a Bubba Bell double, Khoury launched a three-run homer over the left field wall to put Lancaster up 3-0. The JetHawks never trailed.

Matt Goodson hurled his second straight quality start, allowing just two runs over six innings to improve his record to 3-4. Catcher Mark Wagner had three hits for Lancaster. Bell and Khoury each had two hits in the game, as did Brad Correll.

The JetHawks continue a six-game road trip Friday night in Adelanto against the High Desert Mavericks. Justin Masterson(6-5, 4.85) pitches for Lancaster against High Desert’s Cibney Bello (4-3, 7.31).
