66ers Rally in the 9th Inning to Beat JetHawks 2-1
Shane Wolf hurls seven shutout innings

(SAN BERNARDINO, CA) – Shane Wolf pitched brilliantly for the JetHawks, but the bullpen was unable to hold on Monday night in their first game this season in San Bernardino. The Inland Empire 66ers got a pair of singles and a pair of walks in the bottom of the ninth inning as they defeated Lancaster 2-1.

A Lee Cruz RBI single gave the JetHawks the lead in the first inning. Albert Cartwright hit the second pitch of the game for a double down the left field line. He scored on a two-out single from Cruz, giving the JetHawks a lead that would last until the ninth inning.

Wolf was masterful for Lancaster. The left-hander did not allow a single base runner until the fourth inning. In seven scoreless innings, Wolf gave up just two hits and one walk while striking out four in search of his fifth win of the season.

JetHawks reliever Mike Modica turned in a scoreless eighth inning but got into trouble in the ninth. He walked the first batter, Chris Gutierrez. A sacrifice pushed Gutierrez to second base and he then scored on a game-tying single by Travis Denker. Denker gave way to pinch-runner Nick Buss, who scored on the game-winning hit from Austin Gallagher.

The JetHawks continue the road trip with a rare morning game Tuesday in San Bernardino. The JetHawks will send Kyle Greenwalt (1-5) to the mound against the 66ers Josh Walter (0-1). The game begins at 11:05 AM and will be broadcast live on internet only on CSN @ JetHawks.com with the Pre-Game Show beginning at 11 AM.
