Lancaster loses to Lake Elsinore 4-0
(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) – The Lake Elsinore Storm got seven strong innings from Anthony Bass and held the JetHawks to just four hits in a 4-0 victory Wednesday evening in the first game of a four-game series. The Storm have blanked the JetHawks in each of the teams’ last two meetings. Lancaster has lost six consecutives games and its last eight road contests.
It was a pitcher’s duel early between Bass and Lancaster hurler Kyle Greenwalt. It looked like the JetHawks would break through early. Jay Austin led off the game with a double and Albert Cartwright walked. Freddy Parejo drilled a line drive that looked like an extra base hit, but Storm third baseman Vince Belnome made a leaping catch. He then threw to second base to double up Austin. The JetHawks would fail to score and wouldn’t record another hit until the sixth inning.
Greenwalt allowed just one run over his first four innings on his way to a season-high seven strikeouts. The Storm added a solo homer by Allan Dykstra in the fifth inning, then two more in the seventh to pull away.
The JetHawks look to snap their losing streaks Thursday night at the Diamond in Lake Elsinore. Ross Seaton (1-5) will pitch for the Lancaster against Lake Elsinore’s Nick Schmidt (4-2). The game begins at 7:05 pm and will be broadcast live on CSN @ JetHawks.com and NewsTalk 1380 AM with the JetHawks Pre-Game Show beginning at 6:50.
