Giants Hold JetHawks Quiet
Lancaster loses first game of their road trip 4-1

(LANCASTER, CA) – The San Jose Giants used great pitching a one timely swing of the bat to defeat the JetHawks 4-1 Friday night at Municipal Stadium in San Jose. The JetHawks were held to just two hits in the loss. Lancaster falls to 18-17 on the season, and pending the result of Rancho Cucamonga’s game Friday, look to drop out of first place for the first time since the 26th of April, a game in which they beat the San Jose Giants.

San Jose rode a strong start from pitcher Gregorio Martinez. He went seven shutout innings, giving up just one hit, a double to Scott White in the second inning. Justin Masterson was very effective as well for Lancaster, setting a season-high with seven strikeouts. However, Masterson left one pitch up, and David Maroul hit it for a three-run homer that would provide the margin for the Giants.

Lancaster did not get on the scoreboard until the eighth inning. Mark Wagner started off the inning with a triple. An out later Luis Soto beat out a grounder to first base to bring home the run.

The JetHawks continue a seven-game road trip Saturday night against the San Jose Giants. Michael Bowden (1-0, 1.62) pitches for the JetHawks against Joe Martinez (3-1, 2.66). The game starts at 5:00 and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com with the pre-game show starting at 4:45.
